Our Team
Garry McMahon
Dr. Garry is a prize-winning graduate of TCD in 1986. He worked for 2 years in Derry before returning to take over, his late father, Jimmy’s dental practice.
An early course on Practice Management Excellence by Dr. Ken James (an Olympic medal-winner and Dentist) has greatly influenced how he developed the practice into a well-motivated, happy, professional group. Numerous further courses in Aesthetic and Implant dentistry over the years have developed Garry’s interest and skills in all aspects of modern restorative dentistry.
Garry is committed to preventive, conservative and aesthetic dentistry delivered at a reasonable cost.
Yvonne Leahy
Dr. Yvonne is a graduate of dentistry from Trinity College, Dublin. She has more than 25 years’ experience across all disciplines.
After qualifying, Yvonne worked as an associate dentist in a busy family practice in Kent, England. Subsequently, she ran her own general practice in London for nine years.
Yvonne has been a popular member of the dental team with Garry since 1996.
She completed a two-year diploma in Clinical dentistry in Trinity.
Niamh Murtagh
Dr. Niamh always wanted to be a dentist and graduated with honours from TCD in 2005.
She has worked in many areas of dentistry in Ireland, the UK and Australia including; children’s and special needs clinics, a maxillofacial hospital department and CAD/CAM. She has also volunteered as a dentist in Cambodia, Ecuador, Vietnam and Dublin.
Niamh has gained further qualifications since graduating, currently focussing on the areas of orthodontics, digital dentistry and implant restorations.
Dr Laura Gibney
Dr. Laura graduated with honours from Trinity College Dublin in 2016 and was chosen from her class to work as Junior House Officer in the Dublin Dental Hospital.
Laura went on to work as an Associate in Wexford before moving to Vancouver, where she worked in a busy practice for 5 years, gaining extensive experience in general, cosmetic and minimally invasive dentistry. She has also volunteered as a dentist in Guatemala with communities with no access to dental care.
Laura has a diploma in Primary Care Dentistry and is a member of the Faculty of Dentistry RSCI and the Irish Dental Association. She is committed to learning and keeping up with advances in dentistry, and believes in providing high quality, conservative treatment with patience and gentle care.
Dr Alice Drayne
Alice qualified in Valencia, Spain, where she was elected class delegate.
She went on to gain valuable experience working as an associate in a busy practice near Belfast. During this time, she obtained a certificate in a year-long aesthetic and restorative dentistry course in London under Dr Chris Orr.
She joined McMahon Dental in September 2025 and continues to attend regular courses to stay up to date with the latest developments in dentistry. Most recently, she has completed advanced training in biomimetic dentistry, oral surgery and composite bonding.
Alice is passionate about minimally invasive care and helping patients feel confident in their smiles. She considers it a privilege to treat people in her community. If you are an anxious patient, Alice and the team will make it their mission to put you at ease.
Sameer Lakho
Dr. Sameer trained as a dentist in the Dublin Dental Hospital, qualifying with honours in 2011.
He started his career in general practice in both the UK & Ireland, while attaining his MFDS in 2013 from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. In 2016, he decided to pursue a Master’s Degree in Endodontics from Barts and Royal London Hospital, Queen Mary University of London. Sameer is experienced in all aspects of advanced endodontic procedures including molar endodontics, retreatments, removal of broken instruments and surgical endodontics.
Dr Patrick Hendron
Patrick graduated from Trinity College Dublin in 2002 and moved to the UK soon after.
He quickly developed an interest in Dental Implants and completed a two-year Implantology course in 2004, laying a strong foundation for his career pathway in predictable implant solutions. In 2010, he earned the prestigious FGDP Diploma in Implant Dentistry, along with the Advanced Certificate in Bone Augmentation from the Royal College of Surgeons (England).
Patrick has since contributed to the field as a tutor on the Diploma in Implant Dentistry at the RCS London where he mentors general dentists in implant placements. He has also pursued advanced implantology courses in Brazil, Germany, Hungary & Italy, travelling regularly to conferences to keep at the forefront of this dynamic field.
Known for making patients feel comfortable, Patrick is dedicated to providing conservative and sensitive care, especially for those who are anxious about treatment. With over twenty years of experience in the field, we are delighted to welcome Patrick to the practice.
Dental Hygienists
Marie O’Brien
Originally from Kilkenny, Marie has been with the practice since 1993, having qualified as a dental hygienist from Glasgow Dental Hospital in 1991.
Marie has been responsible for implementing the very strong emphasis our practice places on preventative dentistry for all the family.
Caroline Quinlan
Caroline qualified in 2008 from Dublin Dental Hospital. She is originally from Tipperary and has been a team member since 2015.
She helps her clients maintain optimum oral health through regular appointments and careful oral hygiene instruction. Caroline remains committed to life-long learning and is currently studying for a Degree in Social Science.
Payment Terms
We request that payments or part payments are made on the day of treatment. We accept Cash, Laser, debit, credit cards and cheques.
Tax Relief
Patients having treatment for crowns, root canals, bridges, braces, implants and veneers etc. i.e non routine treatment will qualify for tax relief.
Cancellations
The practice requires a 24hr notice to cancel / reschedule any appointments.
Failure to contact us could result in a late cancellation fee of €40.
